ShrinkWrap Info -

Shrink Wrap Equipment

UV12 is ultraviolet (UV) protection for a minimum of 12 months. So the shrink film can be left in the hot sun for 12 months and after 12 months it will still be in the same condition it was when it was first used. It may last 2 or 3 years in the hot sun and may last even longer if it's not subjected to constant sun.

EVA is Ethylene Vinyl Acetheoleva. It's added to the polyethylene shrink film for protection from very cold weather. Normal shrink film without EVA when exposed to temperatures around freezing and below may become brittle and when hit with a rock or like object my shatter. Using the EVA eliminates that possibility.

Portland Shrinkwrap Safety Plan -

If you are going to a plant to do a shrink wrap job, please follow these safety suggestions.

  1. Make sure the area you are going to do the shrink wrapping in is clear of loose paper and any other debris that could be ignited. Remove any flammable liquids from the area.
  2. Make sure the area is well vented.
  3. Have a fire extinguisher on site to use in case of a fire.
  4. Check with plant personal to see if a fire permit is required.
  5. Wear steel toe shoes if required.
  6. Wear eye protection if required.
  7. Make sure you are clear of any work areas where machinery is being used.
  8. Before you ignite the shrink gun you must have ALL your safety equipment on. Kevlar thumb notched sleeve and Kevlar glove. Always wear the sleeve and glove while using the heat gun! Always wear long pants and never shorts.
  9. Be careful of others around you when you ignite the heat gun.
  10. Use only approved ladders and lifts. Do not stand on the top step or top of a ladder.
  11. Wear booties anytime you walk on the machinery being shrink wrapped.
  12. When the shrink job is completed, clean up the area of any scraps of shrink film or shrink tape. Leave the area clean and neat.
  13. Safety first when doing shrink wrap. If you think something is unsafe, and it looks and feels unsafe, "it is". So donŐt do it!
